Demonstrates the effect of electric current on a magnet (Oersted’s Law). Fitted with a cobalt steel magnetic needle (approx. 75 mm long) mounted on an agate bearing for smooth movement. Needle is supported on a pivot fixed to an insulated pillar mounted on a stable base. Surrounded by a rectangular frame made of non-magnetic metal strip . Frame is fitted with terminals for easy electrical connections . When current is passed through the non-magnetic frame, the magnetic needle deflects , confirming Oersted’s Law .
